UPG-150 Universal Pinion Gear Puller This gear puller is designed for use on Lionel 150 series “humpback” and Lionel Junior motors. Both of these motors have armatures with a shaft that protrudes through a bearing in the side plate and the pinion gear must be removed to remove the armature from the motor. The UPG-150 slips over the side plate of the motor, and the internal frame fits between the armature and side plate. The outer component of the UPG-150 fits over the end of the armature shaft and as the set screw is turned inward, it pushes the armature shaft down through the pinion gear. This fits over the intermediate gear also, so no need to remove the wheels. This tool works amazingly well and makes quick work of removing these gears.
UPG-200 Universal Pinion Gear Puller The UPG-200 Universal Pinion Gear Puller is used for all armatures that can be removed from the motor, once the brush plate is removed. This tool is manufactured from high strength tubular steel and the end is machined to fit around the pinion gear. Once in place, simply turn the screw to pull the gear off the armature shaft. This has been tested on various “O” and Standard gauge armatures and works great.
